Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing an end to a long and memorable career with Nigeria’s national team. The forward shared the decision with fans, saying the time has come to step aside and allow younger players to take over the responsibility of representing the country.
Musa is one of Nigeria’s most experienced players, having featured in multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and FIFA World Cups. He is widely remembered for his leadership on and off the pitch, as well as for scoring crucial goals in major competitions, especially at the World Cup stage.
In his message, the former Leicester City star thanked Nigerians, teammates, coaches, and football officials for their support throughout his journey. He described wearing the green and white jersey as a great honour and said playing for Nigeria remains one of the proudest moments of his life.
Although he is retiring from international duty, Musa is expected to remain active in club football and other football-related activities. Many fans and football stakeholders have praised his contribution to Nigerian football and wished him success in the next chapter of his career.
