Youth leaders in Nkanu have suspended their president following allegations of a N10 million financial misappropriation. The decision was reached after an emergency meeting where members raised concerns about transparency and accountability in the handling of funds meant for youth development activities.
According to sources within the group, the suspension is temporary and aimed at allowing a proper investigation into the allegations. The youths explained that the action was taken to protect the integrity of the association and maintain public trust while the matter is being reviewed.
The suspended president has reportedly denied the allegation, insisting that the funds were used for approved projects. He has also expressed readiness to cooperate with any panel set up to probe the issue and clear his name.
Meanwhile, Nkanu youths have appealed for calm among members and residents, assuring that due process will be followed. They emphasized their commitment to unity and vowed to strengthen financial oversight to prevent similar issues in the future.
