Gov Abdulrazaq rejects PDP call for state of emergency over banditry allegations

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, has dismissed calls by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a state of emergency in the state over alleged banditry activities. The governor described the demand as exaggerated and politically motivated, insisting that the security situation is under control.

According to Abdulrazaq, his administration has continued to work closely with security agencies to prevent criminal activities and protect residents. He said intelligence-led operations and community engagement have helped keep the state relatively peaceful compared to many parts of the country.

The governor also accused the opposition of spreading fear to score political points. He maintained that while security challenges exist nationwide, Kwara has not reached a level that requires emergency rule or extraordinary constitutional measures.

Abdulrazaq reassured citizens that his government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property. He urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid being misled by what he called alarmist narratives from political opponents.
