Fresh allegations have emerged claiming that some former aides of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari forged directives in a bid to impose former Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate. The claim suggests that Buhari was not fully aware of the actions allegedly taken in his name ahead of the party’s primaries.
According to reports circulating in political circles, the alleged forgery was meant to create the impression that Buhari had endorsed Lawan as the consensus candidate. This move, critics say, was designed to influence party delegates and stakeholders during a critical period of internal consultations.
The allegation has reopened debates about transparency and internal democracy within political parties. Some party members argue that such actions, if proven, undermine trust in leadership and weaken democratic processes within the APC and Nigeria’s political system as a whole.
While no official investigation outcome has been made public, the issue has continued to generate strong reactions. Analysts believe the controversy highlights the need for clearer communication from leaders and stricter controls to prevent misuse of authority in future party activities.
