The United States has strongly criticised a recent United Nations General Assembly resolution related to humanitarian aid in Gaza. The resolution, which calls for increased access to aid and accountability in the conflict, was described by US officials as one-sided and unhelpful to ongoing diplomatic efforts.
According to the US, the resolution unfairly places blame on Israel while failing to clearly condemn the actions of Hamas. American representatives argued that such resolutions could make peace talks more difficult and may not contribute to improving the humanitarian situation on the ground in Gaza.
The US also maintained that humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza should not be politicised. Officials stressed that aid delivery must be balanced with security concerns and should involve cooperation rather than resolutions that deepen divisions among UN member states.
Despite the criticism, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution with support from many countries. The disagreement once again highlights growing global divisions over how the international community should respond to the ongoing Gaza conflict and humanitarian crisis.
