The Benue State Government has launched a $15 million Creative Impact Fund designed to boost the creative industry and generate massive employment across the state. The initiative targets young people involved in areas such as fashion, music, film, digital media, crafts, and other creative businesses.
According to state officials, the fund will provide financial support, training, and mentorship to creative entrepreneurs. The government said the programme is part of a broader plan to reduce unemployment, empower youths, and diversify Benue’s economy beyond agriculture and public sector jobs.
The Creative Impact Fund is expected to directly and indirectly create about 300,000 jobs over time. Beneficiaries will include start-ups, small businesses, and established creatives who need support to scale their operations and reach wider markets.
The state government assured residents that transparent processes will guide access to the fund. It also encouraged young creatives to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that creativity can be a strong driver of economic growth and social development in Benue.
