The Nigerian government has raised concern that bandits and terrorist groups are now using sophisticated technology to evade security tracking and surveillance. According to officials, these criminal groups have upgraded their methods, making it harder for security agencies to monitor their movements and communication.
Authorities explained that the criminals now rely on encrypted communication tools, modern gadgets, and digital tactics to stay ahead of law enforcement. This development, the government said, has complicated intelligence gathering and slowed down efforts to dismantle criminal networks across different parts of the country.
The government noted that security agencies are responding by improving their own technical capacity and intelligence coordination. Plans are underway to strengthen cyber intelligence, invest in modern equipment, and enhance collaboration among military, police, and intelligence units to close the technology gap.
Despite the challenges, the government assured Nigerians that it remains committed to defeating insecurity. Citizens were also urged to support security efforts by sharing timely information and remaining vigilant in their communities.
