MACBAN claims gunmen opened fire on herders, rustled 168 cows in Plateau

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has raised alarm over a fresh attack on herders in Plateau State. According to the group, armed men reportedly opened fire on herders who were grazing peacefully, forcing them to flee for safety. MACBAN said the attackers also made away with 168 cows during the incident.

The group explained that the herders were carrying out their normal daily activities when the gunmen struck without warning. They described the situation as frightening and called on security agencies to investigate quickly. MACBAN stressed that repeated attacks on herders in the region have created fear and tension within the community.

MACBAN added that the loss of cows is a serious economic setback for the affected families, as livestock remains their major source of income. The association urged authorities to help recover the stolen animals and bring the attackers to justice. They also appealed for better protection for herders across Plateau.

Members of the community have expressed concern that continued attacks could lead to further clashes if not properly addressed. MACBAN called for peaceful coexistence and asked both government and community leaders to take urgent steps to prevent future violence.
