The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has criticised Nigeria’s political leaders, saying their actions and decisions are preventing the country from moving forward. He explained that many leaders focus on personal interests instead of working for the good of the nation. According to him, Nigeria has the talent, resources, and opportunities for growth, but bad governance is holding everything back.
Sanusi noted that the country keeps repeating the same mistakes because leaders refuse to learn from the past. He stressed that corruption, weak policies, and lack of accountability continue to damage the economy and deepen poverty. He warned that unless leaders change their approach, Nigeria will continue to struggle with insecurity, unemployment, and poor development.
The Emir also called on citizens to demand better leadership and stop supporting politicians who fail to deliver. He urged Nigerians to vote wisely and refuse to be influenced by ethnic or religious sentiments. Sanusi said true progress can only happen when leaders are chosen based on competence and integrity, not connections or tribe.
He concluded that Nigeria still has a chance to recover, but only if leaders show courage, honesty, and a sincere desire to build a better future. He encouraged both the government and the people to work together to fix the nation’s problems instead of blaming one another.
