The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has taken strong action against Ekiti Queens following reported misconduct during a recent match. As part of the disciplinary measures, the club has been ordered to relocate its home games to Abeokuta. This decision is meant to serve as a deterrent and promote discipline across the league.
In addition to the relocation, Ekiti Queens have been fined N2.5 million for breaching league regulations. The NWFL management stated that clubs must maintain high standards of behavior both on and off the pitch. They warned that any repeated violations would attract even harsher penalties.
League officials explained that the sanctions were necessary to protect the integrity of women’s football in Nigeria. They emphasized that discipline, fairness, and respect must be upheld at all times to help the league grow.
Ekiti Queens are expected to comply fully with the new directives. Fans, meanwhile, have been encouraged to support peaceful and orderly conduct as the team adjusts to its new temporary home ground in Abeokuta.
