A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Philip Ugbor, has warned that the ongoing crisis in Benue State is far more serious than what has been shown in public reports. He explained that many communities are suffering in silence as attacks, displacement, and destruction continue without enough attention from the government and media. According to him, the real situation on ground reveals deeper humanitarian and security challenges.
Ugbor noted that several villages have been abandoned because residents fear for their lives. He stressed that many families are living in makeshift shelters, lacking food, water, and medical care. The lawmaker called on both federal and state authorities to increase security presence and provide emergency relief to affected communities before the crisis worsens further.
He also criticized the slow response from security agencies, saying that many distress calls go unanswered. Ugbor urged the government to adopt a more coordinated strategy that involves local leaders, security forces, and humanitarian organisations to protect lives and restore peace. He emphasized that the people of Benue deserve immediate and long-term support.
The lawmaker appealed to the media to give more coverage to the crisis so Nigerians can understand the scale of the suffering. He added that burying the truth will only delay solutions and deepen the pain of those already affected. Ugbor called for urgent steps to resolve the crisis and rebuild shattered communities across the state.
