Yobe Police decries increased rate of gender based violence in state

The Yobe State Police Command has expressed serious concern over the growing cases of gender-based violence across the state. Police authorities say incidents such as domestic abuse, sexual violence, and physical assault are being reported more frequently.

According to the command, many of the victims are women and young girls who suffer in silence due to fear, stigma, or pressure from family members. The police stressed that gender-based violence is a crime and warned offenders that they will be prosecuted according to the law.

The police also called on community leaders, parents, and religious groups to help educate residents about the dangers of abuse and the need to respect the rights of women and children. They encouraged victims to report cases early so action can be taken promptly.

Yobe Police assured the public that special units are in place to handle gender-based violence cases with care and confidentiality. The command urged residents to support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious acts and standing up against abuse in their communities.
