The United Methodist Church (UMC) Southern Nigeria Conference has restated its clear position on human sexuality, saying it remains committed to the teachings of the Bible and the church’s long-standing doctrine. Church leaders made this known during a recent conference meeting attended by clergy and lay members.
According to the conference, the church believes in upholding biblical principles as the foundation of its faith and practices. It emphasized that its position has not changed despite ongoing global debates and differing opinions within the wider Methodist community.
The Southern Nigeria Conference also called on its members to remain united and focused on spiritual growth. Leaders urged pastors and congregations to avoid actions or teachings that could cause division within the church.
The church reaffirmed its commitment to peace, love, and respect for all individuals while maintaining its doctrinal beliefs. It encouraged members to continue living according to Christian values and supporting the church’s mission across Southern Nigeria.
