CSO seeks scrapping of Akwa Ibom agencies over inefficiency

A civil society organisation (CSO) has asked the Akwa Ibom State Government to scrap some agencies it described as inefficient and unproductive. According to the group, these agencies have failed to deliver value despite receiving public funding over the years.

The CSO said many of the affected agencies have unclear responsibilities and often duplicate the work of other government bodies. This, it noted, has led to waste, poor coordination, and slow service delivery across the state.

The organisation also urged the government to carry out an independent review of all state agencies to determine which ones should be restructured, merged, or completely dissolved. It stressed that public resources should be directed toward agencies that truly serve the people.

The group believes that trimming down ineffective agencies will reduce government spending and improve accountability. It added that such reforms would help Akwa Ibom focus more on development projects that directly impact citizens.
