A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State has begun consultations ahead of the 2027 election, seeking the backing of councillors across the state. The aspirant said grassroots leaders play a key role in winning elections and cannot be ignored in the race to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde.
Speaking during a meeting with local government councillors, the PDP hopeful promised to continue Makinde’s legacy if elected. He assured them that his administration would focus on people-oriented projects, inclusive governance, and stronger development at the local government level.
The aspirant also appealed to councillors to work closely with party leaders to strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2027 polls. According to him, unity within the party is necessary to retain power in Oyo State and deliver good governance to residents.
He further emphasized that the support of councillors would help mobilize voters at the ward level. The aspirant urged them to remain loyal to the PDP and support a candidate who understands grassroots politics and the needs of the people.
