Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described Nigeria as a “nation of unending tragedy” following fresh cases of insecurity in Adamawa, Anambra, and Sokoto states. Obi expressed deep concern over the continued loss of lives and the rising fear among citizens across different parts of the country.
He said the frequent attacks show that insecurity has become a national crisis that requires urgent and sincere action from the government. According to Obi, Nigerians should not be forced to live in constant fear while going about their daily activities, whether in the North or the South.
Obi also criticized what he called the slow response of authorities to security threats. He stressed that words and promises are no longer enough, urging leaders to focus on practical solutions that will protect lives and property. He added that every life lost represents a failure of leadership.
The former governor of Anambra State called for better planning, intelligence gathering, and cooperation between security agencies. He urged the government to treat insecurity as an emergency, warning that the country cannot make progress while violence and fear continue to spread.
