Detection: ‘PDP failed to protect me’ – Governor Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to protect him during the political crisis that rocked the state. Speaking on his decision to defect, the governor explained that he felt abandoned at a critical time when internal party issues became intense.

Governor Fubara said he made several efforts to resolve the crisis within the PDP but received little support from party leaders at the national level. According to him, the lack of intervention and protection left him exposed to political pressure and threats that affected governance in Rivers State.

He explained that his decision to leave the party was not taken lightly, stressing that it was necessary to safeguard his mandate and ensure stability in the state. The governor added that remaining in a party that could not stand by him would have further worsened the political situation.

Fubara also assured Rivers residents that his defection would not distract him from delivering good governance. He said his focus remains on development, peace, and improving the welfare of the people, regardless of his new political alignment.
