Adamawa group insists soldiers killed protesting Lamurde women, demands justice

A civil society group in Adamawa State has insisted that soldiers were responsible for the killing of women who were protesting in Lamurde Local Government Area. The group said the women were unarmed and only expressing their anger over ongoing insecurity in the area when the incident happened.

According to the group, eyewitness accounts and local reports show that the protest was peaceful before soldiers allegedly opened fire. They described the incident as a serious violation of human rights and warned that such actions could further increase tension and mistrust between security agencies and local communities.

The group called on the federal government and military authorities to carry out an independent investigation into the incident. They demanded that any soldier found guilty should be held accountable, stressing that justice must be done to restore confidence and prevent future abuses.

They also urged authorities to engage communities through dialogue rather than force, especially when citizens are protesting over safety concerns. The group said respecting the rights of civilians is key to achieving lasting peace in Adamawa and other parts of the country.
