NAFDAC warns against smuggling of prohibited food products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning against the smuggling of prohibited food products into Nigeria. The agency emphasized that such products pose serious health risks to consumers.

NAFDAC stated that importing unapproved foods can lead to the spread of diseases, food poisoning, and other health hazards. The agency urged Nigerians to buy only approved and certified food items from licensed vendors.

The agency also announced stricter monitoring at borders and checkpoints to prevent the illegal importation of food products. Offenders caught smuggling prohibited foods may face legal action and penalties.

NAFDAC reminded the public that their safety is a priority and called for cooperation in reporting any suspected cases of food smuggling. Consumers are encouraged to verify product certifications before purchase.
