PFN Secretary faults Bishop Kukah’s position on Genocide

The Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has criticized Bishop Matthew Kukah over his recent statements on genocide in Nigeria. The PFN Secretary described Kukah’s comments as misleading and said they could create confusion among Nigerians. He stressed that the church must promote unity and avoid statements that might escalate tensions.

According to the PFN Secretary, Bishop Kukah’s position does not reflect the experiences of all Nigerians. He argued that while there are security challenges and attacks, labeling the situation as genocide could be divisive and politically charged. He called for calm and careful analysis of facts before making public statements.

The PFN Secretary also urged religious leaders to focus on peace-building rather than highlighting conflicts. He emphasized the role of all faith communities in working together to reduce violence and insecurity across the country. According to him, responsible leadership involves fostering dialogue and understanding, rather than assigning blame based on religion or ethnicity.

He concluded by appealing to Bishop Kukah and other prominent voices to be more measured in their public comments. The PFN Secretary believes that constructive discussions can help guide policymakers and the public toward real solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges.
