The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims that it has already chosen Najeem Salam, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, as its governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun election. Party leaders explained that no one has been endorsed yet and that the party will follow due process.
According to the ADC, its candidate will emerge through a transparent primary election, not rumours or unofficial announcements. The party said it remains committed to fairness and will give all interested aspirants equal opportunity to contest.
The leadership also cautioned party members and the public to ignore false reports suggesting that Salam has been selected. They clarified that the ADC is still in its preparatory stage and has not even opened formal screening for aspirants.
Political analysts say the ADC’s clarification is aimed at preventing internal conflict and ensuring unity before the primaries. They believe the party wants to avoid misunderstandings as it works to position itself strongly for the 2026 race.
