The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary suspension of rehabilitation works on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. The decision aims to ease the flow of traffic as the state prepares for the Christmas holiday rush. Motorists have welcomed the move, noting that the expressway is one of the busiest routes leading to the city’s coastal areas.
According to the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the halt is temporary, and rehabilitation will resume after the festive season. Officials said the decision was made to prevent traffic gridlocks and ensure smooth movement for commuters and holiday travelers.
The government also advised road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules, especially during the festive period. Alternative routes were suggested for drivers to avoid congestion along the Lekki-Epe corridor. The authorities assured residents that the completion of the rehabilitation project remains a priority once traffic pressure eases.
Commuters have expressed relief over the announcement, saying it will make travel during the Christmas season less stressful. The Lagos State Government continues to emphasize its commitment to both road infrastructure development and ensuring public convenience.
