The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given Super Eagles coach, Finidi Chelle, a clear target as preparations continue for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. According to officials, the minimum expectation is for Chelle to guide the team to the semi-final stage of the tournament. The federation believes that with the talent available in the squad, reaching the last four is both realistic and necessary.
NFF board members explained that the Super Eagles must show improvement after recent mixed performances. They emphasised that Nigerian fans expect strong results, especially in major competitions like AFCON. By setting this target early, the federation hopes to create focus and encourage the coaching team to build a competitive squad.
Coach Chelle is said to be working on strengthening key areas of the team, including defence stability and goal-scoring efficiency. Training plans, scouting missions, and player assessments are already underway to ensure the squad is ready for tough continental challenges. The NFF has promised full support but insists that results must reflect Nigeria’s status in African football.
Football supporters across the country have reacted differently to the target. Some believe the semi-final goal is fair, while others argue that Nigeria should aim for the trophy itself. As AFCON 2025 gets closer, fans will be watching closely to see how Chelle prepares the team and whether the Super Eagles can rise to the expectations placed on them.
