Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has called on the National Assembly to summon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explain the ongoing insecurity across the country. She said citizens deserve to know what concrete steps the government is taking to protect communities facing frequent attacks, kidnappings, and banditry. According to her, leaders must be accountable, especially when lives are being lost.
Yesufu noted that insecurity has continued to spread, affecting farmers, traders, travellers, and even school children. She argued that despite promises made by the government, many Nigerians still live in fear. For this reason, she believes the legislature must demand answers directly from the president instead of keeping silent or acting slowly.
She stressed that Nigeria’s security problems cannot be solved without transparency and urgency. Yesufu urged senators and members of the House of Representatives to use their constitutional powers to question the executive and push for real solutions. She explained that the country needs bold leadership and a clear strategy to restore peace.
The activist also warned that failing to take action could worsen the suffering of many families already struggling with economic hardship. She added that security is the foundation of national development and should be treated with the highest level of seriousness. According to her, accountability from the top is the first step toward rebuilding trust and ensuring safety for all Nigerians.
