The Centre for Research and Policy on Peace (CRPP) has raised concerns about the increasing impact of kidnappers on Edo residents. According to the group, the high ransom demands are pushing families into poverty and destabilizing communities.
CRPP called on Governor Okpebholo to take urgent measures to curb the kidnapping menace. The organization noted that the economic burden of paying ransoms is making many families financially vulnerable.
The group also emphasized that without immediate government intervention, the problem could escalate further. Communities are reportedly living in fear, which affects social cohesion and economic activities across Edo State.
CRPP urged Edo authorities to strengthen security measures, improve law enforcement coordination, and create public awareness programs. The organization stressed that protecting citizens is vital to prevent further financial and social losses from kidnappings.
