2027: How to lead PDP to victory – IBB gives Party National Chairman tips

Former military president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has advised the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on what must be done to regain power in 2027. Speaking during a visit by the party’s National Chairman, he emphasized that unity and internal discipline are the first steps toward rebuilding public trust. According to him, a divided party cannot win the confidence of Nigerians.

IBB urged the PDP to focus on listening to Nigerians’ real concerns and shaping a message that connects with everyday struggles. He said the party must show it understands issues like insecurity, inflation, and unemployment, and present solutions that are practical and believable. He stressed that campaigns should be issue-based, not personality-driven.

He also encouraged the party to embrace younger voices and give room for new ideas. IBB noted that involving youths in meaningful roles would help the party appear modern, energetic, and ready for change. He added that transparency in primaries and candidate selection would prevent internal crises and strengthen the PDP’s image.

IBB concluded that the road to victory in 2027 requires long-term planning, unity, and consistent communication with the public. He advised the chairman to reposition the party early rather than waiting until election season. According to him, preparation, honesty, and strong leadership are the keys to staging a successful comeback.
