The Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently take stronger steps to stop the rise in banditry and kidnapping across the country. The group said the current situation is causing fear among citizens and slowing down economic and social activities.
SPSP noted that recent attacks in several states show that criminals are becoming more daring. They warned that if the trend continues, communities may face even greater danger. The organisation stressed that protecting lives and property must remain the top priority for government at every level.
They advised the President to review the national security strategy, work more closely with state governments, and invest in intelligence gathering. SPSP also recommended better equipment for security agencies and stronger community-based security approaches to support early detection of threats.
The group urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities. They added that reducing insecurity requires everyone to play a role while government leads with decisive and timely actions.
