WAANSA urges Tinubu to reopen schools, fence Nigeria’s borders

The West African Association of Nigerian Students Abroad (WAANSA) has called on President Bola Tinubu to reopen schools across the country and take urgent measures to secure Nigeria’s borders. The group expressed concern that prolonged school closures and porous borders are affecting education and national security.

WAANSA emphasized that children’s education should not be disrupted and urged the government to implement safety protocols that allow schools to operate safely. They highlighted that prolonged closures could have long-term negative impacts on learning and youth development.

The association also called for reinforced border security to curb smuggling, human trafficking, and cross-border crime. They argued that well-fenced and monitored borders would help reduce insecurity and protect Nigerian citizens.

WAANSA urged the federal government to act swiftly, balancing education continuity with public safety. They also encouraged citizens to support government efforts to maintain order and ensure the safety of students and communities across the nation.
