Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, alongside his wife and Kanu’s brother, has travelled to Sokoto to check on the welfare and general living conditions of the detained Biafra agitator. The visit comes amid increasing concerns about Kanu’s health and the need for better living conditions while in custody. According to Ejimakor, the trip was motivated by the need to ensure that Kanu receives proper treatment and humane care.
The lawyer explained that the visit was part of ongoing efforts to advocate for improved conditions and to ensure that Kanu’s fundamental rights are not violated. He stressed that, regardless of the ongoing legal issues, Kanu deserves dignity and access to necessary care. Ejimakor added that they would continue to engage the authorities to secure better welfare arrangements for him.
Kanu’s family also expressed concern, noting that regular check-ins are necessary due to the sensitive nature of his detention. They said maintaining close contact helps monitor his physical and emotional well-being. The visit in Sokoto was seen as a significant step toward reinforcing family support at a time they believe he needs it most.
The group stated that they would continue to follow up on his situation and work toward broader improvements in his living environment. They hoped that the authorities would act quickly to address any outstanding welfare issues. Supporters of Kanu have since welcomed the visit, saying it reflects a commitment to ensuring he is not forgotten during his detention.
