Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Wednesday confronted a judge in court, insisting that the judicial officer did not understand the law. The incident occurred during proceedings in a case where Kanu faces terrorism-related charges.
The IPOB leader argued that certain legal points were being ignored, claiming that the judge’s rulings contradicted established legal procedures. “You don’t know the law,” Kanu reportedly told the judge, creating tension in the courtroom.
Kanu’s lawyers supported his position, emphasizing procedural discrepancies and urging the court to adhere strictly to the law. The court, however, reminded the defendants to respect judicial authority as the proceedings continued.
Observers say the incident highlights the intensity and high-profile nature of Kanu’s ongoing trial. Legal analysts suggest that such confrontations, though rare, can influence public perception of the judiciary and the legal process in politically sensitive cases.
