A top mobiliser of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has resigned from the party, saying he no longer feels valued or appreciated. The chieftain, who had been active in grassroots mobilisation, explained that he spent years working for the party but received no recognition for his contributions. His resignation has sparked discussions about internal issues within the party.
Speaking on the reason for his exit, he said he had expected better treatment from the party leadership, especially after the major role he played during elections. According to him, the party ignored those who worked hard and instead focused on individuals who joined later. He noted that this lack of appreciation made it difficult for him to continue giving his time and resources.
The former mobiliser added that he had repeatedly drawn attention to the challenges faced by loyal party workers in Kano, but nothing was done. He emphasised that loyalty without recognition becomes discouraging, and this pushed him to step aside. He also stated that leaving the NNPP would give him time to reflect on his next political move.
His resignation has raised concerns among supporters who fear it could affect the party’s strength in Kano. Many believe the NNPP needs to address issues of neglect and internal discontent if it hopes to remain a strong political force. The party leadership has not yet responded to his claims.
