Public affairs analyst Udenta Udenta has accused the Nigeria Police of worsening the internal conflict within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He claimed that instead of helping to calm political disputes, some police actions have intensified the tension already rocking the party.
Udenta argued that recent police involvement in PDP matters appears selective and unnecessary, suggesting that security agencies should remain neutral. According to him, allowing law enforcement to interfere in party issues only fuels suspicion and division among party members, making reconciliation more difficult.
He maintained that the PDP cannot resolve its challenges if external forces continue to influence its internal decisions. Udenta called on the police leadership to avoid actions that may be interpreted as taking sides, stressing that democracy works best when security institutions remain impartial and professional.
Udenta advised the party to focus on dialogue and unity, warning that any further escalation could affect its chances ahead of the 2027 elections. He insisted that stabilising the PDP requires both internal discipline and a commitment from security agencies to stay away from partisan struggles.
