God, prayer won’t fix save Nigeria’ – Omah Lay

Nigerian singer Omah Lay has sparked fresh conversations online after stating that prayer alone cannot fix Nigeria’s problems. Speaking boldly about the country’s challenges, he said that while faith is important, it must be backed with action, accountability, and real changes from both leaders and citizens.

Omah Lay explained that Nigerians often rely heavily on religious solutions, hoping things will improve without taking practical steps. He noted that the country’s issues—such as poor leadership, insecurity, corruption, and hardship—require concrete decisions, not just spiritual declarations. According to him, God has already given people the wisdom and ability to solve their problems.

The music star added that Nigerians must stop expecting miracles when the necessary work is not being done. He urged young people to rise, demand better governance, and contribute positively to national development. Omah Lay emphasised that transformation starts with responsibility, not only with prayers.

His statement has since drawn mixed reactions, with some agreeing that citizens must act, while others insist prayer still plays a central role. Regardless, Omah Lay’s message adds to the growing calls for Nigerians to combine faith with real effort to build a better country.
