Residents of a community in Sokoto State have been thrown into fear after bandits invaded the area and kidnapped nine people. The attackers reportedly stormed the community in the night, shooting into the air and causing panic as families ran for safety. During the attack, one resident was injured while trying to escape.
According to locals, the bandits moved from house to house, selecting victims before whisking them away into the bush. Many residents said the incident lasted for several minutes without any security response. The injured victim is currently receiving treatment, while families of the abducted individuals are uncertain about their safety.
Community leaders expressed sadness over the growing insecurity, saying this was not the first time such attacks had occurred. They called on government and security agencies to increase patrols, provide more protection, and respond faster when distress calls are made. They warned that the community is becoming unsafe and people are living in constant fear.
Residents are now urging the Sokoto State Government and federal authorities to take urgent action to prevent further incidents. They also appealed for intelligence-based operations to track the kidnappers and rescue the abducted victims. Many fear that if nothing is done quickly, more communities could come under attack.
