Senate President Godswill Akpabio has reacted to the recent violent attacks in Kebbi and Borno States, noting that no country in the world is completely free from crime. Speaking after receiving reports on the incidents, he condemned the killings and expressed sympathy to the families affected. Akpabio said the government is committed to improving national security but emphasized that criminal activities happen everywhere, even in advanced nations.
He urged Nigerians to remain calm and trust ongoing security efforts, stressing that the military and security agencies are working hard to track down the perpetrators. Akpabio also called for closer collaboration among security operatives, local authorities, and communities to prevent future attacks. He stated that public support remains crucial in identifying criminal hideouts and reporting suspicious activities.
The Senate President further highlighted the need for stronger intelligence gathering, saying that modern security challenges require better technology, training, and coordination. He assured citizens that the National Assembly will continue to provide legislative backing, including funding, to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against insecurity. According to him, the government must stay ahead of criminals by adopting new strategies and improving response capabilities.
Akpabio concluded by reaffirming the government’s determination to protect every part of the country. While acknowledging that crime cannot be entirely eliminated anywhere in the world, he insisted that Nigeria will not allow criminal groups to take control. He promised that those responsible for the attacks in Kebbi and Borno will be brought to justice.
