The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the government to take urgent action following the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Kebbi State and the killing of a Brigadier-General. The association stressed that such incidents threaten national security and the rule of law.
In a statement, the NBA urged security agencies to investigate the attacks thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The legal body emphasized the need for prompt intervention to prevent further loss of lives.
The association also highlighted the importance of protecting schools and military personnel, stressing that attacks on educational institutions and officers undermine national stability and public confidence in the security apparatus.
The NBA’s demand comes amid growing concerns over recurring abductions and attacks in northern Nigeria. Legal experts warn that unchecked violence could have long-term social and political consequences.
Observers believe the NBA’s intervention could pressure authorities to strengthen security measures and implement policies aimed at safeguarding citizens, particularly children and public servants.
