The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has expressed strong confidence that Nigeria’s ongoing insecurity challenges can be drastically reduced or even completely eliminated within a year if they are fully supported. According to the group, they have the local intelligence, community presence, and operational experience needed to take back territories and dismantle bandit networks across the affected regions.
CJTF members explained that their ability to blend into communities gives them an advantage in identifying key hideouts, spotting suspicious movement, and providing early warnings. They stressed that with proper collaboration, adequate equipment, and structured backing from security agencies, they could move swiftly and deliver significant results.
They also noted that many of their informal efforts have already helped reduce crime in several communities. However, they believe a coordinated national strategy—one that empowers local security groups while working in sync with the military and police—is necessary to secure long-term peace.
The group urged federal and state governments to integrate them more formally into security frameworks. They believe that once logistics, training, and clear directives are provided, Nigeria could see major progress against banditry, kidnapping, and rural violence within twelve months.
