Newly hired driver disappears with car in Lagos

A newly employed driver in Lagos has reportedly vanished with the vehicle entrusted to him shortly after being hired. According to the car owner, the driver was given the vehicle for routine duties but went missing within a short period, making all attempts to reach him unsuccessful. The incident has sparked concern, especially as cases of drivers absconding with company or private cars appear to be increasing in the state.

The owner has since alerted the police and shared the vehicle details with security agencies to help track it down. Friends and neighbours were also informed in hopes that someone might spot the missing car. Authorities say investigations are underway and advised residents to be cautious when hiring drivers, particularly through informal channels.

Security experts have also urged car owners to conduct proper background checks before employing drivers. They noted that many similar cases occur because employers rely on referrals without proper identity verification. They encourage the use of driver-tracking apps, identity confirmation, and official recruitment agencies.

The police assured the public that efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend the suspect. They further appealed to Lagos residents to report any suspicious sightings and remain vigilant as the festive period often comes with a rise in such incidents.
