Disregard purported notice of congress – NNPP tells INEC

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard a circulating notice announcing a planned congress allegedly issued by the party. According to the NNPP leadership, the document did not originate from any authorised organ of the party and should be treated as fake. The party stressed that only decisions from its recognised national executive are valid and must be respected by all stakeholders.

In a statement released to the media, the NNPP described the notice as the handiwork of individuals attempting to cause confusion within the party. The leadership stated that these elements are working to destabilise its internal structure ahead of upcoming political activities. The party insisted that no congress has been approved, planned, or communicated through official channels, making the document entirely invalid.

The NNPP further called on INEC to continue engaging only with constitutionally recognised officers of the party. It explained that issuing false notices is a violation of the party’s rules and Nigeria’s electoral laws. The leadership warned that anyone found responsible for spreading misleading information would face disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion.

The party encouraged its members nationwide to remain calm and united while ignoring distractions from dissidents. It reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and transparency, adding that all genuine announcements about congresses or conventions would be made through verified NNPP communication platforms.
