Niger: Governor Bago submits 30 commissioner nominees for Assembly approval

Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State has submitted a list of 30 commissioner nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation. The move marks a major step in the governor’s plan to strengthen his administration and improve governance across the state.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Abdullahi Wuse, confirmed the receipt of the list during the house’s plenary session on Wednesday in Minna. According to him, the nominees were carefully selected to represent the diverse interests of all local government areas in the state.

Governor Bago, through his Chief Press Secretary, stated that the nominees were chosen based on merit, competence, and integrity. He emphasized that his administration aims to deliver on its promises of development, security, and infrastructure renewal in Niger State.

Lawmakers are expected to begin the screening exercise within the coming days, after which the confirmed commissioners will be sworn in to head various ministries. The governor expressed confidence that the new team would help drive his transformation agenda for the state.
