Igbokwe calls for dismissal of soldier who confronted FCT Minister Wike

Lagos State lawmaker, Joe Igbokwe, has demanded the immediate dismissal of a soldier who allegedly confronted the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mohammed Bello Wike. The incident, which has sparked controversy, reportedly took place during an official inspection at a government site in Abuja.

Igbokwe described the soldier’s actions as “unprofessional” and “a direct challenge to civilian authority,” stressing that such behavior cannot be tolerated in a democratic society. He urged the military hierarchy to take decisive action against the officer to maintain discipline and respect for government officials.

The lawmaker further emphasized that public servants, including ministers, must be allowed to perform their duties without intimidation or harassment from security personnel. “Discipline in the armed forces is crucial. No soldier should feel empowered to confront or obstruct a minister carrying out official duties,” Igbokwe stated.

The FCT Minister, Wike, has not publicly commented on the incident, but government sources confirmed that a review of the matter is underway. Citizens and political observers are watching closely, emphasizing the need for accountability within the security forces.
