Nigeria not Iraq, our mosquitoes waiting for your soldiers – Ex-security expert tells Trump

A former Nigerian security expert has issued a stern warning to former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his recent military threat over the alleged killing of Christians in Nigeria. The expert cautioned that Nigeria is a vastly different operational environment from Iraq, adding humorously that local mosquitoes alone would challenge foreign troops.

Speaking to reporters, the expert said, “Nigeria is not Iraq. The terrain, climate, and social dynamics are completely different. Any military action here will not be as straightforward as you might think. Even our mosquitoes will make life difficult for any invading soldiers.”

The security analyst emphasized that while Nigeria continues to battle terrorism and insurgency in the North-East and other parts of the country, foreign intervention is unnecessary and could complicate ongoing operations. He urged diplomatic engagement rather than threats of military force.

He further noted that Nigerian security agencies, in collaboration with local communities, are actively confronting Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other violent groups. “Our military knows the terrain and people far better than any external force could. Solutions require intelligence, coordination, and local expertise, not guns brought from abroad,” he said.

The warning adds to growing criticism in Nigeria over Trump’s ultimatum, with many political and security observers arguing that the country can handle its security challenges independently. Analysts also stress that diplomacy and international support in intelligence and humanitarian aid are more effective than direct intervention.
