FRSC urges Special Marshals to prioritise personal safety while promoting road safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on its Special Marshals to always prioritise their personal safety as they work to ensure safer roads across the country. According to the Corps, no officer should endanger their life while trying to protect others on the road.

Speaking during a briefing, FRSC officials stressed that Special Marshals play a key role in promoting safe driving and supporting the agency’s mission, especially during peak travel seasons and festive periods. However, they warned that officers must avoid unnecessary risks, particularly when dealing with reckless drivers or dangerous road situations.

The Corps encouraged volunteers to follow all safety guidelines, use protective gear where necessary, and collaborate closely with regular officers during patrols. The FRSC added that being cautious and alert can prevent avoidable incidents while carrying out road safety duties.

The leadership also commended the efforts of Special Marshals nationwide, thanking them for their voluntary service and commitment to reducing road accidents. They urged them to continue sensitising drivers on traffic rules, responsible driving, and proper vehicle maintenance.

Members of the public were reminded to respect road safety officers and cooperate with traffic regulations, as road safety is a shared responsibility between the government and citizens.
