Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has assured residents of Kano North that criminals will not be allowed to disrupt the peace and stability of their communities. He emphasized that the region remains calm and secure despite recent reports of bandit activities. Barau gave this assurance following an attempted attack on parts of Shanono Local Government Area by armed bandits.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau praised the swift and courageous actions of security forces. According to him, troops of the Joint Task Force Operation MESA under the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army acted based on credible intelligence and successfully neutralized 19 bandits on November 1, preventing what could have been a deadly incident. He said the rapid response demonstrated the commitment of security agencies to safeguarding lives and property.
Senator Barau applauded the bravery and professionalism displayed during the operation. He said the courage shown by the troops and other security personnel helped protect innocent citizens from harm. The lawmaker reaffirmed that criminals attempting to escape from military pressure in other states would not be allowed to invade or jeopardize the peace enjoyed in Kano North.
However, Barau also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of two soldiers and a vigilante member who died during the operation. He offered his condolences to their families and prayed for eternal rest for the fallen heroes. He described their sacrifice as a reminder of the dedication and risks security personnel face in defending the country.
He encouraged residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activity. According to Barau, community support and timely information are vital to sustaining peace and stopping criminal elements from gaining ground. He urged citizens to remain calm and trust in the efforts of security forces who remain committed to safeguarding the region.
