Tinubu swears in two new ministers

President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in two new ministers — Dr. Bernard Doro and Dr. Kingsley Udeh — bringing them into the Federal Executive Council. The ceremony was held on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, just moments before the first FEC meeting since July 2025. With their inauguration, Plateau and Enugu States now regain representation at the federal cabinet after weeks without ministers.

Dr. Doro replaces Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who left the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction after becoming the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress on July 31, 2025. Doro’s nomination was announced on October 21. Meanwhile, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, who previously served as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, replaces Uche Nnaji, who resigned in October following issues linked to his academic credentials. Udeh was also recently awarded the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria and received Senate confirmation earlier this month.

During the open session of the FEC meeting, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance Minister, Wale Edun, shared positive economic news. He revealed that Nigeria’s return to the international capital market has boosted investor confidence, with the country’s $2.35 billion Eurobond oversubscribed by 453 percent — drawing over $13 billion in investor orders.

Edun explained that the federal government is pushing ahead with its reform agenda to stabilize the economy and attract more investment. According to him, the next steps will focus on removing obstacles that discourage investors and reviewing tariffs and import restrictions to support business growth and increase production across industries.

With the swearing-in of both ministers and renewed focus on economic reforms, the federal government is signaling efforts to strengthen governance, boost investor trust, and drive national development. The closed-door FEC session continued after the swearing-in ceremony.
