Super Falcons forward, Esther Okoronkwo, has expressed strong confidence that Nigeria can win their 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in 2026. The Falcons are Africa’s most successful women’s football team, and Okoronkwo believes they can extend their dominance.
Nigeria booked their place in the 2026 WAFCON finals after defeating the Amazons of Benin Republic 3-1 on aggregate. The team, coached by Justine Madugu, is now focused on the continental tournament, which will also serve as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Okoronkwo said the team has only one mission — to win the trophy. She insisted that the Super Falcons will not attend the tournament just to participate but to lift the cup again.
According to her, Nigeria always competes to win and this time will not be different. She added that with the talent and experience in the squad, another WAFCON victory is very possible. Okoronkwo said the players are motivated and ready for the challenge ahead.
The Super Falcons won their 10th WAFCON title in the last edition, and fans are hopeful the team will continue its winning tradition in 2026. With confidence and determination from players like Okoronkwo, expectations remain high for another historic triumph.
