Sule Lamido risks expulsion from PDP – Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has warned that former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, risks expulsion from the party if he continues to make statements considered harmful to the unity of the party. George noted that Lamido’s recent comments have caused tension within the PDP, and stressed that no individual is above the party’s rules and discipline.

According to Bode George, the PDP is trying to rebuild and focus on the future, so internal sabotage will not be tolerated. He explained that Lamido’s criticisms have been interpreted as acts capable of weakening the party’s structure at a time when unity is needed the most. He argued that party leaders must show discipline and maturity if the PDP is to regain public trust and prepare for future elections.

George added that the PDP has a constitution and established processes for handling misconduct. He stated that while Lamido is a respected founding member, loyalty to the party must come first. If Lamido refuses to respect party decisions and continues with divisive statements, disciplinary actions, including expulsion, may be applied to protect the party’s interests.

The PDP elder further appealed to party members to remain focused and avoid actions that could undermine internal cohesion. He emphasized that internal grievances should be addressed through dialogue and party mechanisms rather than public attacks. According to him, only unity and respect for party leadership will allow the PDP to position itself as a strong opposition capable of winning elections again.

George’s comments have sparked reactions among party supporters, many of whom believe that reconciliation is needed, not punishment. However, others say discipline must be enforced to prevent chaos within the party. As discussions continue, many political observers will be watching to see whether Lamido adjusts his stance or the PDP leadership proceeds with disciplinary measures.
