The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who allegedly stole a vehicle belonging to a Nigerian Air Force officer in Abuja. The Ford Escape SUV was reportedly snatched at gunpoint during a robbery attack at the officer’s residence in Karu, Abuja, in the early hours of October 29, 2025.
Police said the suspects invaded the home at about 3:15 a.m., stealing cash, phones, and the officer’s vehicle before fleeing. Intelligence later showed that the suspects were travelling toward Kano, prompting police action.
Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad intercepted the vehicle along the Kano–Zaria Expressway near Salbas Filling Station. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, but the officers responded quickly and overpowered them after a brief shootout.
The arrested suspects were identified as Adamu Adam Abubakar of Zoo Road in Kano and Umar Bello from Nasarawa Dirkania in Kaduna State. Police said a third suspect, known as Dan Malam, escaped with a pistol and some of the stolen items and is currently being hunted.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the coordinated efforts of the Intelligence Unit in Abuja and the Kano command. He encouraged residents to continue providing useful information to support security operations across the state.
