Barau FC head coach, Ladan Bosso, has stood by his squad after their slow start to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The promoted side has struggled in their first top-flight campaign, managing only two wins, two draws, and five losses so far. With eight points from nine matches, the Maliya Boys currently sit in 18th place on the league table.
Despite the tough beginning, Bosso remains confident that the young team will get better as the season progresses. He explained that most of the players in the squad are still adapting to the demands of the NPFL since the club decided to keep the same group that earned promotion. According to him, the players need time to adjust to top-tier football and grow stronger together.
Bosso noted that the club’s approach is focused on long-term development rather than rushing to overhaul the squad. He recalled a similar situation during his time with Bayelsa United, where the team also struggled early but later picked up form. He believes the same improvement will happen with Barau FC once the team fully settles into the league’s rhythm.
The coach also expressed confidence in the quality of his current players, saying they are even stronger than the group he worked with at Bayelsa United. His message to supporters is to remain patient and trust the process, as the coaching staff continues to work on team chemistry, fitness, and strategy.
Barau FC will hope to begin turning things around when they face Wikki Tourists in their matchday 11 fixture this weekend. With determination and continued hard work, Bosso says the Maliya Boys are ready to fight for better results and move up the NPFL table.
