Ekiti guber: Nullify Gov Oyebanji’s endorsement – Female APC aspirant urges court

An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State has taken legal action to challenge the endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term. The female politician argued that the endorsement was unfair and did not follow the party’s rules, insisting that every aspirant deserves a level playing field.

She asked the court to declare the endorsement invalid, stating that the party leadership should not impose a candidate before the official primary election. According to her, the process shut out other qualified aspirants and denied party members the right to freely choose their preferred candidate.

The aspirant maintained that democracy thrives on transparency and participation, and any attempt to force a candidate on the party goes against the APC’s constitution. She stressed that only a free and fair primary election will protect unity in the party ahead of the Ekiti gubernatorial election.

She noted that Governor Oyebanji has every right to seek re-election but insisted that other party members must also be allowed to contest without intimidation or political manipulation. Her legal move has sparked debate within the APC, with supporters praising her boldness while others argue the party should rally behind the governor.

The court is expected to hear the case soon, and the outcome will determine whether the APC in Ekiti will conduct a proper primary election or stick with the governor’s endorsement. Party members and political watchers are keeping close attention on the situation as the election draws near.
